Major in Electronic Science and Technology(080702H)

This major traces its roots to the infrared technology program, one of China’s first‑of‑its‑kind programs established in 1963. Following multiple adjustments to the national discipline catalogue, it was successively renamed Optoelectronic Technology and Optoelectronic Technology Science, before adopting the name Electronic Science and Technology in 1998. It is now a National First‑Class Undergraduate Program Construction Site, as well as a National‑level Characteristic Major and a Brand Major of Institutions of Higher Education in Jilin Province.

Supported by the first‑level doctoral discipline of Electronic Science and Technology with a post‑doctoral research station, the discipline is recognized as a National Defense‑Featured Discipline and a Key Superior‑Characteristic Discipline of Jilin Province. The major boasts high‑level teaching platforms, including State Key Laboratories, International Joint Research Centers, and Engineering Practice Education Bases, which serve as top‑tier platforms for scientific research, innovation and experimental practice.

The major enrolls 85 students annually under the “4+0” training model, with all studies completed at Changchun University of Science and Technology. Courses are jointly delivered by Chinese and Russian faculty. Courses taught by Chinese instructors are offered in Chinese and English, whereas courses undertaken by Russian instructors are taught entirely in English. Upon satisfying the degree‑granting criteria of both universities, students will receive an undergraduate graduation certificate and Bachelor of Science degree certificate from Changchun University of Science and Technology, together with bachelor’s graduation and degree certificates from ITMO University of Russia. The certificates issued by the two universities are identical to those awarded to regular students of the same major at each institution.

The major cultivates high‑quality, innovative and senior‑level specialized talents who meet the requirements of national modernization and future social‑technological development. Graduates develop all‑round competence in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor education, and are equipped with solid mathematical‑physical foundations, systematic professional knowledge, broad global vision and devotion to the motherland. They are qualified for research, design, development, production and application of systems, equipment and devices in infrared radiation and detection, imaging and display, optoelectronics, semiconductors and other related fields, serving aviation, aerospace, weaponry, optoelectronic industry and other sectors.
